ABOUT US

THE BROUGHTON FAMILY

Who We Are

Reid and Heather Broughton are 5th generation farmers living between Loganville and Hillpoint Wisconsin. They have three small children that help farm alongside them each day, while also being homeschooled. As parents, they take great pride and joy sharing and teaching the next generation about hard work, as well as ethical and sustainable farming practices.

Broughton Farms

This family’s farm operation consists of corn, soybeans, small grains, and alfalfa acres. They choose to use no-till planting, crop rotation and cover crops as part of their responsible conservation farming plan, helping preserve the ground for today and tomorrow. This farm also provides custom farming to area farmers like planting and harvesting. The Broughton Farm raises steers from calves to finish for market.

Seasonal Market

As Broughton Farms continues to grow, they are always looking for ways to diversify. Just recently they entered the seasonal market starting in late summer and going through winter.

Autumn

The farm family continues to stay busy growing mums, pumpkins, and gourds for your fall decorating needs. Starting in 2023 they added a one-acre family-friendly corn maze to their farm along with a pick-your-own pumpkin patch. The corn maze provides a fun interactive game for the whole family. They will also have winter squash, small straw bales, corn stalks, ornamental corn, and grasses available for purchase.

Winter

Starting Black Friday, this farm puts up a fresh-cut tree lot of Balsam and Frasier pine trees in varying heights. Heather enjoys making fresh handmade wreaths, garlands, and porch pots to sell alongside the Christmas trees. She also offers evergreen classes on location for groups of 10 or more. This family enjoys spreading holiday cheer and is happy to take custom preorders.

Country Roots Creations

Reid and Heather realized how important family, faith, and farming together are to them. Many prayers later the family decided that Heather would no longer work off the farm and instead stay home full time to raise their children. This allowed her more time to help on the farm and focus on their family, but it made finances more difficult. With this challenge, they looked for ways to help earn an extra income while being at home focusing on their children. In 2020, Country Roots Creations was started. They provide custom-designed apparel and gifts, running the business out of their home and using social media to promote and sell online. With her vinyl cutter, heat press, and creative side, Heather can create just about anything from tees and hoodies to porch signs.
